Haha, today I shaved my chin hair and my moustach. This was a first fo rme. I am a person who dislikes having facial hair, but I always have to wait until said facial hairs grow about a bit and then I get it waxed off.
Yes, you read that right, haha. I get my facial hairs waxed off. My mom if one of those people who believe that shaving makes the hair grow back dark/stronger/more/faster/etc. My mom is also a beauty salon worker. I think the term is beautician, but I not really quite sure. Anywho, getting a wax hurts haha. Hot wax is firstly applied, then a strip of cloth. You can feel the tension of the person pulling of the cloth strip build just before the strip is ripped off your face, causing a swift stinging pain. You get used to it, but you never really get used to trying to loosen up to reduce the pain or the heat of the wax.
Anyways, first experience with shaving: not the cleanest shave ever, but I may give up waxing due to this. It’s a lot faster than waxing, and you don’t have to deal with really, really raw skin afterwards. Plus, to remove residual wax or if your skin is a but more hurt than usual there’s these oils/lotions that my mom has to deal with it, except it feels really, really weird ot have them on your skin haha. Also, shaving is a one person job whereas waing yourself on your face is near impossible (or at least it seems that way to me).
And no, I didn’t do the Home Alone-style slap my face with aftershave and scream. I just skipped the aftershave. My brother prefers not to even use shaving cream, just water, but I’m not that hardcore haha. I cut my lip too; small cuts but on both the upper and lower lips. I appears as though I’ve made some kind of lifelong commitment though. My brother warned me about razor burn, where by shaving only every now and again your skin gets super irritated because it never gets used to shaving. He says that by shaving everyday though, you prevent razor burn because eventually your skin toughens up due to being exposed to a blade every day. Not a very comforting concept. Also, my mom says that now my hair will keep growing super fast, and that I will also have to shave everyday if I want to keep it under control. Does this mean that shaving your facial hair once opens the gateway to ZZ Top beards? Let’s hope not.
Too many myths about shaving, not enough facts, haha. Only time will tell what happens.
